Biography

LUIS GERARDO MENDEZ, one of Mexico’s biggest stars, recently starred in the Netflix original feature MURDER MYSTERY (directed by Kyle Newacheck), opposite Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The film premiered June 14th, 2019. Luis also filmed a key role in the upcoming CHARLIE’S ANGELS, directed by Elizabeth Banks and starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska (Sony). The film will premiere on November 15th, 2019. CHARLIE’S ANGELS and MURDER MYSTERY mark Luis’ entrance into the U.S. marketplace with English speaking roles. MURDER MYSTERY continues Mendez’s close relationship with Netflix as he starred in and produced the comedy CLUB DE CUERVOS, Netflix’s first Spanish-language original series, which recently posted its fourth and final season. Luis will star in and Executive Produce the feature film HALF BROTHERS for Focus Films in the Summer of 2019 (Director: Luke Greenfield). It marks the first English-language feature film project to be built around him. Luis starred in the feature BAYONETA, playing an immigrant boxer who attempts to find redemption in the snowy wastes of Scandinavia. As a result of his outstanding performance, he received an Ariel Award nomination for Best Actor. Luis previously starred in Gaz Alazraki’s film NOSOTROS LOS NOBLES which grossed over $28 million to become Mexico’s second most successful film of all time. He was nominated for an Ariel Award for Best Actor for his performance (2013). He also starred in the film CANTINFLAS (released by Pantelion) which became the US’s highest grossing foreign language film in 2014. Luis also starred in Sebastian Hofmann’s 2017 Sundance film TIME SHARE (TIEMPO COMPARTIDO). The versatile actor also alternated nights in the same role with Diego Luna in the Mexico City stage play PRIVACIDAD, which they both also produced (2017). Additionally, Luis stars opposite Thomas Middleditch in the VERIZON Spanish speaking international advertisement campaign, and also serves as the face of PEPSI in Mexico. TOYOTA PRIUS will also launch a new campaign featuring Luis in Mexico in 2019. June, 2019
